Helio Mattar holds a degree in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Stanford. He has held various senior executive positions over the last 22 years in national and international companies, most recently as President and CEO of GE Appliances Brazil. He served as Secretary of Production Development at the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and is cofounder of the Ethos Institute for Business and Social Responsibility, of which he is currently Associate Curator. He is a member of the board and committees of several companies and social organizations, including the Sustainable Development Committee of Grupo Pão de Açúcar, the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan Council, and the Dow Chemical Company’s Sustainability External Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Multi-stakeholder Advisory Council of two United Nations Environmental Programs – the 10YFP Consumer Information Programme for Sustainable Consumption and Production (CI-SCP) and the 10YFP Programme on Sustainable Lifestyles and Education -, Board member of Fundação OSESP (São Paulo Symphony Orchestra), member of the Board of Curators of the Padre Anchieta Foundation, and was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Councils on Sustainable Consumption for 5 years. Helio was the mastermind behind the creation of Akatu Institute and is its current President and CEO.
Rafael Henrique is an engineer, sustainable design expert and social entrepreneur. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering and postgraduate qualification in Entrepreneurship and New Business Development. He worked for 10 years in industrial automation and asset-based risk assessment for major manufacturing plants throughout Brazil and Latin America. He has been dedicating himself to sustainability issues since 2006 and completed the Gaia Education’s (GEESE/UNESCO) Design for Sustainability Program in 2010. In 2011, he left the private sector to become President and CEO of Instituto S.O.S. (literally Systems Organized for Sustainability in English). Rafael holds a number of national and international awards; most notably he was selected for the Laureate Global Fellowship, which annually recognizes 20 young leaders who have pioneered solutions to urgent challenges in their communities and beyond.
Ruy Lindenberg is partner and Vice President of Creation at the advertising agency Leo Burnett Tailor Made. He studied Business Administration at the São Paulo School of Business Administration at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation and holds an MBA from Steinbeis University Berlin. He has worked as a copywriter in some of Brazil’s best advertising agencies, holds prestigious national and international awards, and is member of the Hall of Fame of the Creation Club of São Paulo. He has created numerous campaigns, including Bonita Camisa Fernandinho, Cachorrinho da Cofap, and Visa 2004, and was Creative Director of the Fiat campaign Novo Uno, one of the most successful product launches in recent automotive industry. He has also regularly served as a jury member at various international advertising festivals, including Cannes, the Clio Awards, Young Guns, the Effie Awards, El Ojo, and FIAP.
