Laecio da Silva Barreiros

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Laecio da Silva Barreiros is an accountant and holds an MBA in Financial Controllership. He has worked as finance executive and financial controller in big-name companies such as GE Capital IT Solutions/IBM Brazil (Divisão Ivix Sistemas), the Zurich Insurance Group, Rhodes (Grupo IVARS Italy), Estanplaza Hotels, McDonalds, Manah (Bunge), and Moore Brazil. He has been head of L&Barreiros Controladoria since 2001, which specializes in financial and performance management and financial controllership for small and medium-sized companies. In January 2013, he was appointed Secretary of Revenue and Economic Development of the Francisco Morato Town Council (in the State of São Paulo) and is currently a member of the American Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC, acronym in Portuguese). Laecio also writes and collaborates frequently with various media outlets, including TV Globo’s business news program Pequenas Empresas Grandes Negócios, the business magazines Voce S/A, Exame PME and Meu Próprio Negócio, the newspapers O Estado de S. Paulo and Folha de São Paulo, and digital media Portal IG, Blog INPG, and Blog PME –Microsoft.

Thomas Lanz is an executive consultant specializing in governance, succession and business planning, with over 30 years of experience of working with family enterprises such as Mangels, Lafer, Carbex, and Giroflex. He has been a Board member of various national and international companies and third sector organizations and is currently on the Board of the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance. Thomas holds a degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo and a Master’s in Administration from INSEAD, France, is certified as a family business consultant by the Family Firm Institute, and is an invited speaker for the Superior School of Advertising and Marketing (ESPM, acronym in Portuguese), Catho, Cultcorp, Canal Executivo, and EDM on topics related to family companies.
