Advocacy

We are constantly seeking to engage and mobilize society to support conscious consumption. And, by working with governments, we are able to give scale and momentum to the transition to a sustainable society.

To this end, Instituto Akatu works with the national government and international organizations to influence decision-makers and policies for conscious consumption.

Recent examples of our work in this area include:

– Participation in the Ministry of Environment’s Action Plan for Sustainable Production and Consumption Steering Committee.

– Playing an important advisory role in shaping the communications strategy for the Ministry of Health’s Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian Population, launched in 2014.

– Participation in the Agenda for a Sustainable Brazil, comprising a set of principles and commitments aimed at pressuring presidential and state governor candidates to pledge their support toustainable development.
